Abbotsford raised fine art photographer Cristal Sawatzky doesn’t have a story of getting her first camera when she was five and just knew she would become a photographer. Instead she was born into an artist home and was taught to paint, sculpt, carve and embrace the creative process.  She painted for many years and then started to experiment with mixed medium in her early twenties where she discovered the simplistic beauty and her passion in photography.  She began her fine art photography exploration with figurative studies focusing on the beautiful lines of the female form and emotional connection through expression.  She currently exhibits collaborative mixed medium paintings and is developing a technique new to her involving blending her photographs and paintings. 

 

It has been especially exciting for Cristal since opening up a fine art photography studio and art gallery in the Historic Downtown of Abbotsford. Here she hopes to allow women to feel beautiful, empowered and connected through the experience of a fine art photography session.  She is also passionate about supporting emerging and practised artists by showcasing art shows and providing a venue to platform musicians, poets, 2d and 3d artists.
